2023 Annual Update
Fifteen years ago we launched our service with a fleet of eight vehicles, a few dozen members, a team of volunteers and partners, and a staff of one. Our first month in service, to our relief and excitement, our membership and staff doubled, and every car in our little fleet was used nearly three hours per day, surpassing our earliest expectations. As the smallest and most rural carsharing operation in the country, we demonstrated that when given the opportunity, people will choose to share. Over the years, thousands of folks have joined and left CarShare Vermont at all stages of life, and one thing has remained constant: carsharing reduces vehicle dependence while improving mobility—and all that can be gained from it—for the most vulnerable in our community.
As we head into our 14th year in service here in Burlington, we remain truly grateful to our hundreds of members, partners, and supporters for helping advance our mission to reduce vehicle dependence and improve the environmental, social, and economic health of our community. Together, we’re making real change.
